Bitfinex adds BTC/EUR pair to portfolio

Bitfinex, the largest cryptocurrency exchanges by trading volume (USD 38 billion in the last 30 days), has expanded its portfolio by adding the BTC/EUR pair to its offering, announcing the news on Twitter.

This is the first pair featuring the Euro on Bitfinex, which so far has been offering margin trading on cryptocurrency/USD pairs only: Bitcoin, Bcash, Ethereum, Iota, NEO, Litecoin, EOS, Ripple, Bitcoin Gold, Dash, Zcash, Ethereum Classic, Monero, OmiseGO, ETP, Santiment, Qtum, Eidoo, Streamr, and Aventus.

By doing so Bitfinex would become one of the very few major cryptocurrency exchanges with Euro trading, besides Kraken and Bitstamp. It is not clear whether Bitfinex will add other crypto/EUR pairs, but it is worth noting that neither Kraken, nor Bitstamp have very significant Euro trading volumes.

According to user comments on Reddit, Bitfinex has set a minimum deposit requirement of €10 000.

Bitfinex is operated by iFinex Inc., a Hong Kong based company. In addition to the margin trading through its P2P network with a leverage of 1:3.3, it offers a service as a spot exchange and a liquidity provider.

The exchange operates almost globally, but stopped accepting US clients, on November 9, 2017. Earlier this year Bitfinex also stopped accepting USD wires. According to some media, quoting rumors, now Bitfinex is planning to relaunch them and start accepting fiat currencies once again.
