Global award-winning forex broker FXTM, in partnership with the Nelson Mandela and Ride4Hope Foundations, presented the Nelson Mandela Covid-19 Relief Virtual Challenge on Saturday, August 1, 2020. In Mandela’s spirit of uniting people through sports, the first-of-its-kind event brought together South Africa's sporting heroes and celebrities to raise funds for those impacted - directly and indirectly - by the Covid-19 virus in South Africa.
As a brand that is committed to helping people find freedom in the financial markets, aligning with the global icon of freedom, Nelson Mandela, and supporting the Velokhaya FXTM Cycle Team as volunteers in the Virtual Challenge, was a natural fit for FXTM. As sole title partners for the event, it was both a privilege and an honour for the company to make this platform possible.
Upholding its brand motto to “give more”, FXTM was delighted to make such a memorable and inspirational event possible, which will be resonating in the hearts and minds of all those involved for months to come. There is no better way to give more by providing a platform that gives back to those who need it the most.
Lex Webster, Chief Commercial Officer for Exinity Group, whose brands include FXTM, said, “Uniting with the Nelson Mandela Foundation and Ride4Hope to present the Covid-19 Relief Virtual Challenge has been an absolute honour for FXTM. As the great Mandela himself said, 'What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead".
With six leading sports teams competing, the event took the form of a 30km ride on Wattbikes via the ZWIFT cycling app, and was watched by thousands worldwide through online channels and satellite streams. The athletes, including the Titans cricket team, rugby team Vodacom Bulls and FXTM’s own Velokhaya Cyclists, gave an impressive performance – and every single participant completed the challenge.
