Is Forex essentially gambling?

An issue for many new market entrants is the following: Is Forex essentially gambling? Each decision we make in our daily lives can be considered as a risk we take to succeed or progress in something. We can make choices based on knowledge, emotion, or even luck. The same happens whenever you choose to get involved in Online Forex Trading!

"Gamblers"

The very word "gambler" implies a person who bets or risks money or anything of value, hoping to profit from a situation that involves risks. To make some things clear, a gambler is a person who may face the urge to play without limits and is often incapable of managing his emotions, which endangers him. The desire to succeed becomes a passion, and passion becomes a need, a need filled with risks and uncertainty.

Forex Trading Online

Forex is a legitimate financial venture and one of the world's largest financial markets that include trading of currency pairs such as AUDCAD, AUDCHF, CHFJPY, EURGBP, GBPNZD, and USDCAD.

Now, to get to the bottom of things and answer our initial question: Forex Trading Online involves some elevated risks, but that on its own doesn’t make it gambling. Gambling mainly tests your luck while trading may be backed up by major analytics.

When you open a trade you often have a thorough analysis and understanding for doing so instead of gambling where you are massively dependent on luck. If you trade blindly and depend on luck, then you gamble, otherwise, when you make choices based on research, knowledge, and trading analysis luck is no longer the driving factor. Of course, there are high risks involved, but that does not mean that this is like gambling!

FX Trading

If somebody throws a penny and buys on heads and sells on tails, that would probably be gambling. However, if you do your homework and carry out a thorough analysis, enforcing strict risk management measures and knowing what you're doing, then it's not gambling, right?

Of course, you could treat trading as a game that would leave your choices contingent on luck and turn it into a gambling venture. But to wrap up - is Forex essentially gambling?

Well, that’s your call to make! Will you study the markets, or simply toss a coin?
